Senior Construction Manager

KeyPlants is looking for a seasoned Senior Construction Manager to oversee and manage its portfolio of complex projects in their construction phases and lead our teams to success. The ideal candidate will bring extensive industry experience and a proven ability to manage the construction phases in fast track, large-scale projects.
The position will report to Head of Projects and will be based in Stockholm or Gothenburg.
- Leadership in EHS Compliance: Ensure that construction teams and contractors operate at exceptional EHS standards, enforcing all related policies and procedures within your area. Oversee that the teams are well-informed about workplace rules and EHS procedures.
- Scope Control and Change Management: Monitor and control construction scope and deliverables, ensuring compliance with approved project baselines.
- Schedule and Cost Oversight: Oversee the construction schedule and manage direct/indirect costs to ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Resource Management: Ensure sufficient work fronts are available and that contractor installation work packages are delivered without constraints.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Management team to monitor construction quality against approved performance metrics.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Manage timely ordering, tracking, and delivery of materials and equipment, in collaboration with the Site team.
- Construction Risk Management: Oversee implementation of risk management processes, updating the construction risk register as necessary.
- Performance Reporting: Compile and distribute regular construction performance analyses and progress reports.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and coach team members, conducting periodic performance and compliance assessments.
- Conflict Resolution: Foster strong relationships within construction and cross-functional teams, effectively resolving any conflicts.
- Experience: Minimum of 20 years in the construction industry, with at least 15 years of hands-on project leadership experience in demanding industrial environments. An ideal candidate will have experience in managing EPC contracts and proven expertise from implementing HSE and QA/QC procedures during project construction.
- Education: Relevant formal education (Process, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or similar) and trade certifications.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and Swedish.
- Cultural Competence: Experience working on an owner’s team in a multi-cultural environment and ability to manage local operational constraints.
- Autonomy and Leadership: Engaging and effective leader capable of driving momentum across multiple functions.
- Decision-Making: Strong execution skills with the ability to make timely decisions and overcome obstacles.
- Reliability and Accuracy: Strong synthesis and reporting skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a first-principles approach to addressing challenges.
- Time Management: Ability to thrive under tight deadlines while effectively managing multiple tasks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
